About Me

Hi, my names Dusty Abell and i've been working in the animation industry since 2000. I've been a character designer at Warner Brothers Animation since early 2009 on all sorts of projects, including Batman Return of the Caped Crusader and it's sequel starring William Shatner, Batman vs. Two-Face, as well as  a large number of the DC Comics animated movies done during that time, the series Young Justice, the hilarious and very adult oriented comedy Mike Tyson Mysteries and the Scooby Doo/Supernatural crossover Scoobynatural!!! Before that I worked on King of the Hill for Fox Television starting in 2001. In 2000 I worked along with a terrific group of people at Stan Lee Media!

Before my time in the animation industry I worked as a penciler in the comic book field primarily at DC Comics. Although the work in comics i'm the proudest of was done after i'd left the industry. It's a book I put together for Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman's awesome superhero comic book, Invincible in 2006. It was a loving homage to the classic 80's Marvel Handbooks titled The Official Handbook of the Invincible Universe. The sheer amount of talent I got to work with on that project and the quality of the final product is definitely a high point in my professional career.

I've enjoyed drawing these eclectic pop culture group/montage shots for years now, and I have MANY more planned going forward! The one that really opened the flood gates for me was the Classic Star Trek piece i did back in 2012 or so just for fun. It was spotted by CBS a number of years later and I was asked to include a slightly reworked version, as part of the original series' 50th Anniversary in 2016, into a commemorative art book and traveling art exhibit.

I hope you enjoy what i'm creating, and will check back in from time to time to see what new work I've done and added here. Thanks for the support, all the best, Dusty!
